A little more

Little Tern, Crimdon Dene

Another image from yesterdays' enjoyable trip south. In the rush to upload images before the world cup final the photoshop processing of the little tern was not really up to scratch, so here is an alternative. In hindsight I should have taken more (and used a tripod)... the self inflicted dark cloud of a "dotterel dip" had distracted me somewhat from what of would been great photo opportunities as birds returned to the cordoned off nesting area.

Nice sharp tern photos, especially in flight.

Thanks Richard, it was the best of a bad bunch! Nice birds little terns! Pity the dotterel wasn't present as it was a beauty...

I went down on Monday expecting it to be nice and quiet, which it was. Ne Dotterel, but no problem. I just enjoyed what i saw. Thoroughly loved watching the Little Terns with the bonus of a juvenile on the sands being fed occasionally by parents. Loads of Linnets in the dunes with the odd Greenfinch. Lots of Ringed Plover ans Sand Martins coming and going from their cliff nests.
No Dotterel, no problem. Cracking morning.
